Roof of Africa Tours conducts professional and exciting tours of the famous Sani Pass (the third steepest pass in the world) and other interesting tours in and around Underberg and Himeville.
Our tours are intimate, allowing our guide to offer a more personalised service and pay more attention to our customers. We can host small or large groups of guests at a time.
The Sani Pass tour is a must do if you will be visiting Underberg / Himeville. It takes you through beautiful mountain scenery into Lesotho where you can meet some of the indigenous Basotho people and experience their culture and way of living. The route, called the ‘roof of Africa’ has a nerve wracking final climb of over 800 metres in just 8 kilometres. Roof of Africa Tours offers Sani Pass tours everyday leaving at 9am and returning by 4pm. Contact us for more information.
Roof of Africa Tours also offers equally intriguing tours of local cheese and wine farms where you can experience the cheese making process and, of course, get to taste some of them. Other tours on offer include visiting rock shelters, containing the largest and most concentrated group of paintings in Africa, south of the Sahara. These were created by the San people over a period of at least 4000 years and tell a fascinating story of the life of the San people. Roof of Africa tours can also interest you in the artistic masterpieces hidden away in the art galleries. These tours can take between 3 – 7 hours.
