Join us at Penwarn Farm, located in the foothills of the Southern Drakensberg, for a stunning farm escape.

Rustic yet modern, Penwarn Farm can be found just 25km from the quaint, little town of Underberg in South Africa.

The 6 self-catering cottages lie in an exquisite valley surrounded by dams, wildlife, livestock, maize and potato fields.

Penwarn has 5 dams on the property with the choice of trout or bass fishing. Grab your fishing rod and throw a line. Take a kayak and explore the Bushman’s paintings along the rock face of the river. Bring your binoculars, our birdlife is just amazing. Take a hike to the waterfall and pack a picnic, dive into the crisp waters of our natural rock pool on our river.

The ambience of the farm is relaxed and is perfect for a variety of occasions including birthday celebrations, family adventures and romantic getaways. With 6 self-catering homes on the property, Penwarn can accommodate up to 45 guests.

Mthini Lodge

Our Mthini Lodge sleeps 8 adults and 3 children, divided into three King Bedrooms and one suite with two ¾ beds. All rooms have luxury en suite bathrooms. There is also a full kitchen and a large open-plan living and dining area, with a fireplace, which opens to a private patio, with braai and fire pit facilities.

Mthini is the shining star of Penwarn Farm Lodge, and is perched on a hill overlooking a magnificent lake and Southern Peaks of the Drakensberg.

Mziki

Mziki sleeps 7 adults and 1 child in two Queen Bedrooms and a large loft with two ¾ beds and one single bed and a day bed. The cottage has two shared bathrooms. One bathroom has a shower and the other has a jet bath overlooking the lake. Mziki has a large open-plan kitchen, which looks onto the dinning and living area. The front doors open onto a small patio with a large garden and braai area.

Kingfisher

Kingfisher is a thatch cottage that sleeps 2 people in one Queen Bedroom. There is a comfortable bathroom in the cottage, which has a shower and the usual amenities. This cottage has an open-plan kitchen and living area, with a three-seater couch to lie on and catch up on some reading or enjoy a nap in the afternoon.

This is the perfect couple accommodation.

Nguni

Our Nguni cottage sleeps up to 5 people in one Queen Bedroom and a loft with two ¾ beds and a single bed. The lovely, shared bathroom is equipped with a shower. This cottage has an open-plan kitchen and living area, and is a perfect for a family of 5.

Oribi

Oribi thatch cottage is identical to Nguni and sleeps 4 adults and 1 child in one Queen Bedroom and a loft with two ¾ beds and a day bed. An additional single bed can be added if necessary. The communal bathroom is equipped with a shower. Oribi has an open-plan kitchen and living area, with a comfy slouch couch to lie on and catch up on some reading or enjoy a nap in the afternoon.

Watch the kids play on the nearby jungle gym from the comfort of your patio.

Penwarn Manor

Sleeps MAX 16 Adults  in this large 7 bedroom self catering unit. 

• Room 1: Garden View, with two 3/4 beds an en-suite bathroom with shower. 
• Room 2: Garden View, two 3/4 beds with an en-suite bathroom with shower. 
• Room 3: Garden View, two 3/4 beds with an en-suite bathroom with shower. 
• Room 4: Garden View, one queen bed and an en-suite bathroom with shower. 
• Room 5: Garden View family room, one king bed, one 3/4 bed and a day bed with an en-suite bathroom with bath only. Fireplace in room. 
• Room 6: Dam View, one king bed with an en-suite bathroom with shower and bath.  Fireplace in room. 
• Room 7: Dam View, one king XL bed with an en-suite bathroom with shower and bath.  Fireplace in room. 

All beds have electric blankets and wall heaters. 

Large kitchen with fridge, freezer, microwave, large stove, toaster and kettle. Lots of kitchen space-Perfect for hosting your birthday or just an excuse to have a reunion with friends. 

Open plan dinning and living room, with a 14 seater dinning room table. Three 3 seater couches and a large TV with DSTV selected channels with two fireplaces. Doors open onto the lawn that looks right over the trout fishing dam. Kayaks right at your door step. 

This is a spot that is perfect for an outdoors family or a group of friends that enjoy nature. It’s a simple spot with a rustic feel and modern finishes.
